NBC’s Saturday Night Sickness

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” is taking on a very sour look. Alec Baldwin didn’t appear with his tired Trump impression on the Saturday before the midterms, perhaps because he reportedly punched a man in the face in New York’s Greenwich Village in a parking spot dispute.

“SNL” tried to joke its way out of that mess at the end of its opening skit with their star Kate McKinnon. “When we come back, an update from disgraced former actor Alec Baldwin — seen here molesting a young Boy Scout,” showing a picture of a classic 1994 “Canteen Boy” skit with Adam Sandler.

McKinnon was impersonating Fox News host Laura Ingraham talking on “The Ingraham Angle” about the “caravan” of immigrants marching through Mexico, “live from the Arizona border, where a vicious caravan of dozens, maybe millions, of illegal immigrants is headed straight for you and your grandchildren.”

Other Fox News stars kept introducing video of the immigrants, although the footage came from zombie movies and nature movies of crabs. Who is NBC to mock other people for faking the news? That’s shameless after they spread the unreliable Brett Kavanaugh rape accusations of disgraced Michael Avenatti’s client Julie Swetnick, among others.

Then, during the “Weekend Update” fake-news sketch, Pete Davidson announced, “There are some pretty gross people running for office this year,” and proceeded to mock the looks of (mostly) Republican candidates. Like a middle-schooler, he suggested Florida Gov. Rick Scott “looks like someone tried to whittle Bruce Willis out of a penis.” And then it happened.

Davidson, the loud-mouthed spoiled punk, mocked Texas congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw, a veteran who lost his eye in Afghanistan and now wears an eye patch. “You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate from Texas and not a hit man in a porno movie,” Davidson proclaimed, to uproarious laughter. “I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war or whatever.” Or whatever? Davidson lost his firefighter father in the 9/11 terrorist attack when he was 7. Dan Crenshaw lost an eye in Afghanistan fighting the same kind of terrorists who killed his father. For the love of God, doesn’t he deserve better than this?

Crenshaw was a class act in a Twitter response: “Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended. That being said, I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes.” Crenshaw has since won his congressional race.

We could make a long list of midterm candidates NBC won’t mock for their looks, and that would include transgender gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist, D-N.Y. There is no way they would ridicule Rep. Ilhan Omar, D- Minn., for wearing her Muslim headwear. So why can’t a veteran be spared jokes about losing an eye fighting for his country?

Then consider this: In 2016, Davidson posted a picture on the internet that he’d gotten a large tattoo on his leg of “his hero” … Hillary Clinton. He said to her, “Thanks for being such a bada– and one of the strongest people in the universe.” So, to summarize: Crenshaw the Afghan war hero is “pretty gross.” And Clinton, who lied about being under fire in Bosnia, is the real “badass.”

Davidson tried to end the skit in self-defense, noting he looked like a Dr. Seuss character in a prison jumpsuit. So those truth-tellers at The New York Times buried the lede as they wrote up the obnoxious show with this headline: “‘SNL’ Jokes About the Midterms, and Pete Davidson Pokes Fun at Himself.”

The advertisers included Amazon, Microsoft and Verizon, and appearing just after Davidson’s mess were L.L. Bean, Christian Dior and Paramount (with two movie ads). These merchants should think more than twice about the garbage they’re making possible.

The ‘Racist Ad’ and News Judgment

During the last weekend before the 2018 midterms, the media decided an ad by President Trump was “racist” and therefore refused to air it. CNN, NBC, Facebook and even Fox News took that position.

The “star” of this commercial is Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican citizen who has repeatedly entered America illegally and who shot two California police deputies dead in 2014. In January, Fox News aired footage of Bracamontes boasting in court: “I don’t (expletive) regret that (expletive). The only thing that I (expletive) regret is that I (expletive) killed two. I wish I (expletive) killed more of those (expletives).” But CNN and MSNBC didn’t cover it as news. They covered it when Trump used the footage in his ad. They didn’t grieve for the families of the two dead deputies. They didn’t worry about the problem of crime by illegal immigrants. They worried about Trump’s tactics.

Trump’s ad played part of the Bracamontes clip, and a narrator said: “It’s pure evil. President Trump is right. Build the wall. Deport criminals. Stop illegal immigration now. Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants.”

CNN’s Poppy Harlow was aghast and asked, “Is this politics at its worst?” MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt asked Sen. Michael Bennet for his response. “I say it’s appalling. I don’t say that as a Democrat or as a senator,” Bennet lectured. “I say it as an American and wish that we had a president who actually was trying to bring the country together rather than dividing us.”

As if former President Obama and the Democrats gave America a blissful eight years of unifying moments? Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street were about as angry and divisive as they come. But Bennet and Co. didn’t have a problem in the world. These militants and anarchists were celebrated by liberals and their media adjuncts as part of a glorious progressive future, no matter how many laws they broke.

But when an illegal immigrant shoots and kills two law enforcement officers and brags about it, bringing it up is somehow divisive. Why couldn’t we unite as Americans around the idea that illegal immigrants shouldn’t be killing our cops? Why can’t the “news” networks define that as news, and not as inflammatory content to be banned? Why doesn’t the president of the United States have the right to talk about this, not by others’ standards but his own?

Then consider the newspapers. A search for Luis Bracamontes on The New York Times website finds 20 mentions in the last five years — and 18 of them are from Nov. 1 forward, centered on the new Trump ad that he debuted on his Twitter account.

The ad intersperses the Bracamontes clips with footage of the caravan of immigrants marching through Mexico. Trump’s ad incorrectly states that Democrats let Bracamontes in and let him stay, when he illegally entered the country under both Democrat and Republican presidents. But it’s not the bad facts that they’re finding offensive. They’re too emotional to deal in facts. The ad is “racist” because it’s seen as an attempt to scare white voters into choosing Republicans.

CNN’s Don Lemon picked up where his network left off, saying: “this horrible guy who is a convicted cop killer, you know, mouthing things in court and smiling. It just — every racist immigrant trope that you can think of is in this ad.” NBC’s Peter Alexander said, “the president is facing sharp condemnation for what critics call fearmongering and racism by promoting this web video trying to terrify Republicans to vote.”

Haven’t CNN and NBC and the other networks just spent two years making videos to terrify everyone into voting against Donald Trump and his alleged enablers? Haven’t they been divisively fearmongering about “democracy dying in darkness” through this entire presidency?

Will the Caravan Call President Trump’s Border “Bluff”?

President Trump has directly instructed Mexico to control its own southern border or America will close ours with them. In a sharp contrast to the previous administration, instead of rolling out the red carpet to the nearly 4,000-strong caravan of migrants, President Trump has signaled his willingness to uphold the rule of law — and lawful — immigration process. He’s threatening to call out the U.S. Army against illegal immigrants being spurred on by human traffickers and complicit foreign governments hungry for bribes, kickbacks, and future wire transfers of American cash. So far Mexico appears to be taking President Trump’s threat seriously and has sent out law enforcement personnel to intercept the caravan.

Here’s more from Hot Air…

Jazz noted in the previous post that Mexico has begun to act to slow down the illegal-immigrant caravan that began in Honduras. Apparently, it’s not slowing down fast enough for Donald Trump. As the Mexican government sends law enforcement to intercept the caravan, Trump went on Twitter to threaten Mexico with a border closure if it failed:

Democrat Candidate Deletes Post About Terrorist Grandfather

Ammar Josepher Campa-Najjar (formerly known as Ammar Yasser Najjar), Democratic challenger to incumbent Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), not only changed his name for political expediency but also deleted an Instagram post referring to his terrorist grandfather as a “legend.” A former employee for the Obama Administration, Campa-Najjar called his grandfather Muhammad Yousef al-Najjar “a legend” back in 2015, offering no criticism for his being “a senior member of the Palestinian terrorist group Black September that murdered 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.” Hunter, on the other hand, fought with the U.S. Army in the battle of Fallujah, Iraq. The contrast is clear.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

President Trump has already boarded his 2020 MAGA train with a sackful of $100 million and is going full-speed ahead with a re-election campaign many predicted he would never seek.

According to CNN, the President has steadily been stocking his re-election treasure chest for several months now, topping well over $100 million.

“The President raised more than $18 million during the July-to-September fundraising quarter through his campaign committee and the joint fundraising operations he maintains with the Republican National Committee,” the outlet reports. “That haul means his re-election effort’s war chest now exceeds $106 million.”

Last month, the Trump campaign had $35.4 million in available cash in its bank account. Campaign officials say the bulk of the money comes from “small-dollar contributions of $200 or less,” which represent nearly “98% of the money he collected during the third quarter of the year.”

Graham: Renominate Kavanaugh for a November Fight

During an interview with FNC’s Sean Hannity, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) proposed a controversial (and possibly brilliant) contingency plan should Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote fall short on Friday. Graham argued that if he isn’t confirmed, “I would renominate him, and I would take this case to the American people.” Though Sen. Graham believes Kavanaugh will be confirmed despite the left’s investigation goal post moving theatrics, he put forward the plan as a way to let the voters play jury in what has become a disgusting partisan fight on Capitol Hill. It’s an intriguing idea that has merit. What’s more, Trump proposed that very idea himself during the campaign. We think it’s gold. Do it!

Here’s more from Breitbart…

On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) stated that while he thinks Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed, if he isn’t confirmed, “I would re-nominate him, and I would take this case to the American people,” in states red states with Democratic senators.

Graham predicted that Kavanaugh would be confirmed because the FBI won’t discover anything to flip Senator Jeff Flake’s (R-AZ) and that Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) are doing due diligence.

Graham then stated, “Now, what would happen if something really weird did occur and we’re one vote short? Here’s what I would tell the president, I would appeal the verdict of the Senate to the ballot box. This good man should not be destroyed. If you legitimize this process by one vote short, woe be unto the next person. I’d hate to be the next person nominated. I would feel horrible that we destroyed Kavanaugh.

New Poll Is More Really Bad News for Pelosi’s Dems

Back in October of last year, the picture being painted by the media was that of a ‘blue wave’ coming to sweep away Republican control of Congress, and with it any chance of appointing more conservatives to the Supreme Court.

At that time, the Democrat generic ballot advantage was as high as 15 points, virtually guaranteeing Speaker Pelosi.

But then, all of that changed…very quickly.

That number started dropping like a led balloon, hastened all the more by the successful passage of the GOP tax cut.

Now the latest poll has come out showing the Dems’ advantage is down to a single point.

What’s instructive about that is that in previous midterm elections in which Republicans won decisively, the Dem advantage was at least five points.

Bottom line: the Democrat Party is looking at a big loss in November unless they can pull out of the nosedive soon.

Here’s more from Hotair.com

The old conventional wisdom: What if Democrats take back both chambers of Congress this fall?

The new conventional wisdom: What if Republicans never lose another election?

Seriously, it’s a cinch that the GOP will lose House seats this fall. The growing mystery is whether they’ll lose enough to actually return Nancy Pelosi to power. Yesterday CNN found the Democratic advantage on the generic ballot down to three points. Today Reuters finds it down to one. Given the feel-good spectacle this morning of Trump and Pence greeting American hostages on their return home from North Korea, it’s quite possible that a poll next week will show the GOP even — or ahead! — on the generic ballot. On Christmas Day 2017, they trailed by 13 points on average.

Pelosi May Have Just Lost the Election for Dems

San Fran Nancy Pelosi continues to be her own worst enemy…and that of her party. She’s been ecstatic about the possibility that she might become Speaker once again, but she seems to keep forgetting that one doesn’t help the cause by saying stupid things.

Enter the recent Politico Playbook event the other day in which Pelosi was interviewed about a number of things, including the prospect of Democrats retaking the House.

Moderators relayed the charge by Republicans that Dems will institute single-payer health care and raise taxes if in control again.

Pelosi’s mic-drop response: “The second part is accurate.”

That massive slapping sound was the collective facepalm of all the Dems up for reelection in red-states where the prospect of tax hikes are reflexively met with voters’ outrage.

Good luck, Nancy.

Here’s more from Hotair…

Is this the tweet that launched a thousand campaign ads, and burnt the topless towers of Democratic midterm ambitions? If the Republican Party and/or the National Republican Congressional Committee doesn’t cut a version of Nancy Pelosi’s remarks at today’s Politico Playbook interview for every contested House race, they should get sued for incompetence. Jake Sherman asks Pelosi about GOP claims that a Democratic House majority would pass a single-payer health care system and raise taxes. “The second part is accurate,” Pelosi replied:

The Washington Post’s Aaron Blake points out that Pelosi continues to be her own worst enemy:

Nancy Pelosi clearly wants to be speaker again, and she’s on the cusp of reclaiming that perch. But someone appears to be standing in her way: Nancy Pelosi. …

While PolitiFact ruled a month ago that claims Pelosi had pledged to raise taxes were only “half true,” Pelosi seemed to just confirm that’s her plan. Most any politician knows that when you are asked whether you want to “raise taxes,” the next words out of your mouth probably shouldn’t be “Yes.” You talk around it. You massage it. Republicans passed this bill partially in hopes that Democrats would be baited into running against tax cuts and for raising taxes, and Pelosi seems to be obliging them.

None of this is to say this is a fatal blow for Pelosi’s hopes to become speaker. And she’s certainly done her party plenty of good on that front, most notably with her fundraising. But Democrats need to win in red areas to take back the House, and her message seems to be significantly different than the one the candidates who will decide that desire.

Hillary: ‘They Were Never Going To Let Me’ Win

That Hillary went into a seething tirade at her campaign watch party after learning she was losing isn’t exactly big news.

But the details concerning how all that went down on election night and what she said immediately upon learning it actually is news.

According to a new tell-all book, Hillary remarked cynically, “They were never going to let me be president.”

Of course, that begs the question who is ‘they’? Bill Clinton speculated that there was a conspiracy between the New York Times and Trump to secure his victory for the purpose of better headlines. Right.

Meanwhile, we’re aboard an alien spaceship in the Bermuda Triangle sipping mint juleps with Big Foot.

Moving right along.

Here’s more from Hotair…

One day, when Americans of stout heart rise up and declare themselves free of it, the 2016 election will be over, but … today is not that day, friends. While the minutiae and meaning of Donald Trump’s campaign continue to get dissected, the other campaign gets some attention in a new book from reporter Amy Chozick titled Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling.

The Daily Beast’s Gideon Resnick excerpts several passages from the book, none of which make Hillary Clinton sympathetic. For example, this recounting of her Election Night notification reminds everyone of both Hillary’s sense of entitlement and paranoia:

“Of all the Brooklyn aides, Jen Palmieri had the most pleasant bedside manner,” Chozick writes. “That made her the designated deliverer of bad news to Hillary. But not this time. She told Robby there was no way she was going to tell Hillary she couldn’t win. That’s when Robby, drained and deflated, watching the results with his team in a room down the hall from Hillary’s suite, labored into the hallway of the Peninsula to break the news. Hillary didn’t seem all that surprised. ‘I knew it. I knew this would happen to me….’ Hillary said, now within a couple of inches of his face. ‘They were never going to let me be president.’”

Joe Biden: Republicans ‘Don’t Want Black Folks Voting’

It’s no secret former Vice President Joe Biden is gearing up for a presidential bid in 2020, especially given the polls showing he’d likely have beaten Hillary for the Democrat nomination and would have given Trump a run for his money.

So, of course, he’s turning to the age-old Democrat playbook in which the go-to play is class and race warfare.

On an interview with everyone’s favorite race-card-pulling, shake-down artist Al Sharpton, Biden dropped this humdinger: “These Republicans don’t want working-class people voting. They don’t want black folks voting.”

According to Democrats, enforcing federal law and reducing voter fraud qualifies as racism.

Because clearly Dems usually lose in a fair fight.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

Sunday on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation,” former Vice President Joe Biden told host Al Sharpton that Republicans didn’t want African-Americans voting.

SHARPTON: Let me ask you about voting rights. That was another thing the Obama-Biden administration was heavy on under attorney general well as Lynch going in with lawsuits against voter ID and doing in to deal with voter suppression. They have said that foreigners are voting.

BIDEN:  It’s a lie. It’s a flat lie. The assertion the president made from the beginning is a flat lie. Every study, every program -every commission that looked at it said it’s simply not true. It’s part of the big lie. You realize just in past year, in 24 states, the administration’s allies have introduced 60 pieces of legislation, or maybe 70 pieces of legislation, to curtail the franchise. It’s what these guys are all about, man. These Republicans don’t want working-class people voting. They don’t want black folks voting. Look what we are doing now. There’s a movement. You have George Will making the argument that felons should have their—after serving their time—their right restored to vote. What is the one thing we want people getting out of prison to do? We want them to engage in society again. What’s the most significant thing you can do to engage? Get in and vote. These guys, you’re talking about 1.5 million people who have served their time who are unable to vote. Of those there are 30% or more that are African American. We should have like other countries have, automatic registration. You turn 18, you go to any government agency, Department of Motor Vehicle, get your Social Security number clarified and you are automatically registered to vote in your district. We should be be engaged. That’s the one thing that keeps people focused on what’s going on in their country. It’s totally crazy.

Cashless: DNC Continues Going Deeper In Debt

Much ado is being made in the leftist media about surprise Democrat victories in local and congressional elections around the country as a harbinger the coming ‘blue wave’.

And despite that the Democrat generic ballot advantage continues to shrink, it’s still a considerable concern.

But here’s the problem for the party that was Obama’s: it’s deeper in debt than ever before.

Well over 6 million in the red, the DNC continues to underperform in fundraising compared to the Republican Party.

So when all the competitive congressional seats need cash leading up to November, the Democrats will have nothing to give them.

That’s the story the media isn’t telling.

Here’s more from Daily Caller…

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) reported more than $162,000 in additional debt in an amended FEC report filed this week.

The DNC originally reported $6.1 million in debt in its March 2018 FEC report filed on March 20 but amended that report on Monday to include an additional $162,368.64 in debt, bringing the DNC’s total debt to just under $6.3 million.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has zero debt, according to the committee’s most recent FEC filings.

DNC chair Tom Perez has struggled to keep up with his Republican counterpart, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel. The RNC doubled the DNC’s fundraising in 2017 and has continued running well ahead of the DNC in 2018.

The RNC has almost four times as much cash on hand as the DNC, according to the latest available FEC reports. The RNC reported in March FEC filings, compared to the DNC’s $10.1 million.
